Robe Bridge Tournament

The annual Robe Bridge Tournament was the usual friendly 2-day event with 160 people seated comfortably in the Robe Golf Club and presided over by Barbara Travis as director.
People come from Adelaide, Victoria, New South Wales and all around Robe: Gayle Cowan and Helen Boomsma were the only entrants from Blue Lake Bridge Club. They won their section on Saturday afternoon which earned them a place in the Championship on Sunday - the dreaded pro-shop section (cleared of golf equipment for the occasion.) And they came third with a percentage of 55%!
Pretty good against stiff opposition: the winners Felicity and Prudie won last year and second place-getters, the Quinns, are also a formidable pair.

bridge lessons with Barbara Travis

High profile bridge player from Adelaide, Barbara Travis, gave two lessons to our members and other interested players.
She was sponsored by the SABF which is keen to promote bridge in country areas.

We all benefited enormously from her enthusiasm and energy - watch out for a rash of negative doubles in ensuing weeks!

Here we are counting intently on the practice hands.
